Description
Short-tailed, long-legged, long-billed warblers of forest and savanna undergrowth. The tail is often characteristically held cocked over the back. They belong to the family of Cisticolidae.
These birds forage low down and associate with animals in the hope of catching flushed prey.

Calamonastes are special construcions: balls of dry grass, leaves etc. encased in 5 - 15 living leaves that are riveted to the nest with spider web, forming an outer shell, the interior of the nest is lined with plant down.Clutch of 3 eggs, light blue with speckles or plain white. Incubation largely by one parent (probably female). Parasitised by various small cuckoos and brown-backed honeybird.
