Helmet-shrikes Information page

Description
Intensely gregarious, noisy,shrike-like birds that move restlessly through the lower levels of savanna and forest edge. At close range, the remarkable eye-wattles are eye-catching.
They glean insects from bushes and the ground, entering a tree near the bottom and working their way upwards before moving on. They may also hawk insects with aerial sallies.
They are cooperative, probably monogamous, breeders. The nest is an inconsicuous cup of bark fragments and other small vegetable debris, heavily bound and plastered with cobweb. They lay clutches of 3 - 4 pale green eggs with brown, grey and black splodges. Incubation and care of young is done by both sexes, including other group members.
