Weavers Information page

Description
Predominantly yellow gregarious granivores. the simple straight bill indicates that weavers are generalists and probably omnivorous, taking seeds, fruit, nectar and insects.
Most species are polygynous (the male having more than one female mate at a time), a few monogamous. The male constructs an intricate woven nest, the female adds lining. Wet grass is used for weaving the nest, which shrinks and strenthens the construction when drying. Incubation is done by the female alone.
Many species are parasitised by Diederik cuckoo.
