Spotted desert lizard

Appearance
Body slender. Tail roughly same length as body. Snout rounded. Body scales small, granular. Toes have fringe to aid running on sand. Distinct collar beneath throat. Juvenile boldly striped. Adult matches local soil colour, usually mottled pink-grey to slate, some retaining faint stripes. Hunts small insects on flat, semi-arid plains.

Habitat
Karoo to southern Namibia.
