White-fronted bee-eater

Appearance
The crimson-and-white throat, white forehead and lack of pointed tail projections are diagnostic.
Juvenile resembles adult, but is duller.
Habitat
Margins of wide, slow-flowing rivers with steep sandbanks, and other freshwater expanses; also in woodland far from water.
Call
'Qerrr', and twittering noises when roosting.
